Energy Pool: smart energy manager of complex systems
At the centre of the smart grid revolution, Energy Pool manages and optimises the energy consumption of complex systems (industrial sites, distributed generation, renewable energy, storage asset, etc.) for a smarter and more sustainable energy management. These flexibilities enable the easy integration of renewable energies, help reduce CO2 emissions and allow to achieve substantial savings.
Energy Pool has been one of the pioneers in the French flexibility market since 2009, and now has more than 100 employees. In addition to France, we have also been present in the Japanese and Turkish markets since 2015, and in the Netherlands since 2018, and are leading developments in around 10 countries (Germany, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand…).
We intend to play a key role with our customers and states to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The development of our business sector has accelerated over the past two years, encouraged by the European Union and the definition of ambitious objectives to increase flexibility in electricity consumption and to improve energy efficiency. On an international scale, many emerging countries are considering integrating consumption flexibility to avoid costly over-investments which often use hydrocarbons. Moreover, the targets in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions require the electrification and decarbonisation of part of the production chains, which is opening up some excellent prospects for the coming decade.

2009
Set up of ENERGY POOL by Olivier BAUD, former senior executive of a major aluminium company.
Energy Pool started operations in winter becoming the first Demand Response aggregator in France.
2010
Strategic partnership with Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management to speed up ENERGY POOL’s
international growth.
2013
First operations abroad ! Services provided to National Grid (UK) and Elia (Belgium)
2014
Going global! First operations in Cameroon, Japan and Norway. In France, ENERGY POOL is the first aggregator to provide Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR or primary reserve), the most demanding and valuable Demand Response.

2500 MW of flexible load under management 24/7! First operations in Turkey, and more than 90 employees worldwide.
Energy Pool becomes a member of
The Union Française de l’Electricité (UFE),
the trade association for the French electricity sector.
2017
Energy Pool & ATOS Worldgrid launch fleXmart
fleXmart addresses Utilities and System Operators new needs by delivering unique
integrated IT solutions (VPP platform, DERMS) and consulting services for a global optimization.
2018
We manage a 6GW portfolio! 4GW of flexible load and we optimise 2GW of generation assets and DER.
We are finalist of the

2019
Energy Pool and renewables energy developer NW Groupe became the
first actors to successfully provide primary reserve (frequency regulation services) in France from the J Box a lithium-ion battery.
2020
Establishment of
EP GmbH.
2021
We strengthen our activities in the Netherlands. An Agreement is signed with Axpo Solutions on
flexibility services partnership.
Energy Pool was born in Savoie Technolac, the leading French cluster specialized in energy.
The Savoie Technolac network currently gathers on the same area 230 innovative companies from the energy sector, including:
